Broccoli Sprouts

Broccoli sprouts have been gaining attention for their potential anticancer properties. They contain high levels of sulforaphane, a compound that has been shown to have potent cancer-fighting properties. Sulforaphane works by activating a specific enzyme that can help protect cells against damage from carcinogens and other toxins.

 Green Tea

Matcha is bursting with nutrients that are good for you. In one study, rats given green tea extract had smaller tumors, and their breast cancer cells grew more slowly. Green tea has Epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG), a catechin type that has demonstrated potent anti-cancer properties.

Turmeric

Curcumin (the most active component of turmeric) has been researched as a beneficial herb in treating cancer and has been discovered to affect cancer growth and development. Moreover, Supplements containing curcumin appear to have an impact on different forms of cancer.

Flaxseeds

Flaxseed contains a high concentration of lignans, plant compounds with promising anti-cancer properties. Interestingly, compared to other plant foods, this seed contains 75–800 times more lignans. In addition, a PubMed study reported that eating flaxseed may lower breast cancer risks, predominantly in post-menopausal women.

Raspberries

Raspberries are rich in antioxidants, including ellagic acid, which has been found to help prevent and fight cancer. Ellagic acid works by reducing inflammation and preventing the growth of cancer cells. It also works to inhibit the activity of certain enzymes that are associated with cancer development.

Sea Moss

Polyphenols and polysaccharides in sea moss have been shown to induce cancer cell apoptosis. Brown sea moss contains fucoidans, combating liver, gastric, breast, and lung cancers through growth restriction. Sea moss's vitamins A, E, and C act as potent antioxidants, safeguarding against free radicals and DNA damage, mitigating cancer risk.

Garlic

The strongest evidence suggests that garlic lowers the risk of colorectal cancer, but this pungent vegetable may also potential to reduce the risk of other cancers, however, it requires further investigation. A 2014 meta-analysis of observational epidemiology studies by Korean researchers revealed that garlic consumption may lower the incidence of stomach cancer in Koreans.

Chlorella

Chlorella is rich in antioxidantsl Nutrients that strengthen our immune system and have antioxidant properties also tend to reduce the risk of cancers. Cancer is caused due to DNA damage. Antioxidants are compounds that fight these reactive oxygen species, ultimately reducing the risk of cancer.

Red Ginseng

Red ginseng, a steamed and dried form of ginseng, contains compounds that enhance the immune system, inhibit tumor growth, and possess anti-inflammatory properties. Studies suggest it may prevent cancer by boosting immunity and reducing chronic inflammation, offering potential health benefits to support traditional medicine.

Ashwagandha

Studies have shown that Ashwagandha has anti-proliferative properties, meaning it helps to inhibit the growth and spread of cancer cells. Research suggests that this effect may be due to the presence of two key active ingredients in Ashwagandha, withanolides, and alkaloids. These active ingredients help to reduce inflammation, suppress tumor growth, and induce cell death in cancerous cells.

Cardamom

Cardamom is high in natural phytochemicals, which may help fight diseases like cancer. Although it cannot replace cancer treatment, some research suggests that this spice may have anti-cancer properties. One study discovered that 15 days of cardamom supplementation reduced the weight and size of mice’s skin tumors.

Beets

The use of beet dietary supplements by cancer patients is on the rise, intending to assist in the remission and cure of the disease. Betanin, a phytochemical thought to have a synergistic anti-tumor effect supporting chemotherapy, is found in beetroot.

Mistletoe

Mistletoe extract has been found to have anti-tumor effects in laboratory studies. It appears to work by activating the immune system, helping the body identify and attack cancer cells. Mistletoe extract may also interfere with cancer cell growth and reproduction.

Apple Cider Vinegar

One study found that applying Acetic Acid to cancer cells killed them effectively. Scientists are trying to find ways to deliver acetic axis to tumors, but remember that these studies were carried out using tissue samples rather than living humans. Some observational links have also been found between the consumption of ACV and a lower risk of esophageal cancer.

Ginger

Ginger could be beneficial for in supporting the treatment and prevention of gastrointestinal cancers. Its strong antioxidant content is probably responsible for inhibiting the development of these cancer cells in laboratory tests. Other studies suggest it might also be beneficial in preventing ovarian and breast cancer.

Cinnamon

Although most of the studies are restricted to animal and test-tube studies, scientists found that cinnamon has anti-cancer properties. It reduces the blood vessel formation in tumors thus leading to the death of cancer cells. A mice study of colon cancer showed that cinnamon activated detoxifying enzymes that helped prevent the spread of colon cancer.

Modified Citrus Pectin

Modified Citrus Pectin has been found to stimulates the natural killer cells that helps the immune system fight leukemia. One study of 49 patients with advanced tumor showed that oral intake of 5 g MCP three times daily; reduces the progression of the disease and improve the quality of life. MCP may also reduce the risk of cancer by removing toxic metals and improving gastrointestinal health, which otherwise could cause inflammation and cancer growth.

Berberine

Among many other health benefits, Berberine has been investigated for its potential to sensitize cancer cells to conventional chemotherapy and radiation treatments, making them more susceptible to the effects of these therapies. This could enhance the overall effectiveness of cancer treatments and reduce the risk of resistance.

Resveratrol

One study published in the journal Molecular Nutrition and Food Research found that resveratrol extracted from Concord grapes was able to induce apoptosis (programmed cell death) in colon cancer cells. Another study published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry found that Concord grape juice was able to reduce the growth of breast cancer cells in a dose-dependent manner.

Oregano

Oregano's compounds, like carvacrol, exhibit potential against cancer cells. Test-tube studies reveal its efficacy in inhibiting growth and destroying human colon cancer cells. An in vivo and in vitro study published on PubMed® found that oregano had specific tumor-suppressive properties in breast cancer.

Moringa

Moringa has garnered attention for its potential anti-cancer properties due to its rich content of bioactive compounds. Research suggests that Moringa leaves contain compounds like quercetin, kaempferol, and various polyphenols, which possess antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that could inhibit the development and progression of cancer cells.

Celery

For example, a study published in the journal Cancer Prevention Research found that apigenin, a flavonoid found in celery, can help inhibit the growth of cancer cells and prevent the formation of new blood vessels that supply tumors. Another study published in the Journal of Nutrition found that the compound luteolin, which is also found in celery, has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that can help prevent cancer.

Acerola

Acerola contains multiple anti-cancer compounds such carotenoids and anthocyanins. One small study published in the Journal of Nutritional Science and Vitaminology did report that acerola extract appeared to inhibit lung cancer cell growth in mice. Japanese scientists indicated that acerola might have anti-cancer properties, especially against lung cancer.

Rosemary

Rosemary extract rich in polyphenols, notably carnosic and rosmarinic acid, demonstrated potent anticancer effects. Oncology Reports highlighted inhibition of leukemia and breast cancer cell growth by rosemary extract. Critical Reviews in Food Science and Nutrition supported its tumor growth inhibition in breast, colon, stomach, liver, leukemia, and melanoma across various organs.
